In the previous post i have given tutorial on solving the 'Different SIM' problem when activating iPhone using different SIM card, Now there is another easy fix for it without removing LOCKDOWN folder

After JAILBREAKING the iPhone, you will have Cydia, Now you need to add Repo to it :

Open Cydia and tap Manage, then tap Sources

Then tap Edit

Next tap Add

Type in cydia.pushfix.info and tap Add Source

Now tap Done

Tap the Pushfix.info line

And Install.

EDGE Disabler

This is for users whose carriers give them an IP that push will not work on. They typically give you an IP
that is only useful to reach a data subscription page. An example is T-Mobile US Prepaid.
This package forces EDGE to be disabled and then push will finally work over WiFi. This is only a last resort as some carriers
IP can be disabled using http://iphonenodata.com/site/. You can tell if your carrier is
still giving you an IP by dialing this string on the phone *3001#12345#* and pressing Call. Next, tap PDP Context List and then
0. If you do not have the '0' listed, or the IP Address shown on the '0' page is 0.0.0.0 then you don't need this package.

YouTube Fixes

These are free fixes for anyone to use who does not have a working YouTube key. Unlike

key only seems to work in different areas of the world, but it is more comlicated than that.

How to disable edge/GPRAS and 3 G on iPhone

Works on all iPhone firmwares up to 3.0 and most cellular carriers*
* Personally tested on my iPhone 2G/3G 3.1.2 on Rogers *
If you have an iPhone but didn’t get a data plan be in for a shock after you see your bill. When out of range of a Wi-Fi access point, the iPhone will automatically connect via EDGE/3G periodically incurring expensive charges. Usually 5 cents per kilobyte, 1MB is $50!
Here is how you disable it.
1. Launch Safari on your iPhone
2. Go to iphonenodata.com
3. Tap the “Disable EDGE/3G” button
4. Tap “Install”
5. Tap “Install Now” to confirm
That’s it!
Go to “Settings – General – Usage” to check if you’re using anymore data. The counter shouldn’t go up from on.  As you can see, my phone never ever used any data.

If you try to browse a web page, this is what you see.  Data is blocked

Invalid SIM when switching SIM after activation or jailbreak and unlock

There's a new issue floating around and i want to bring it to your attention.

Description:

- iphone 3GS, iphone 3G with firmware 4.0/4.0.1

- Activated using a phonebook SIM or 16-in-1 SIM or 6-in-1 SIM or something similar. A lot of people are using these because they don't have a legit carrier SIM

- After activation, the device is jailbroken with jailbreakme.com and unlocked with Ultrasn0w.

- Now come the interesting part:

** when the user switched out SIM and put in the carrier SIM, the iphone will immediately switched to the "slide for emergency" screen (like the phone not activated) and it will say "Invalid SIM" on the screen. However, the device is getting signal from the carrier (unlock is working).

** When the user remove the carrier SIM, the iphone will go back to the springboard.

** When the user put back carrier SIM, same problem again.

Resolution:

If you are having this issue, the work around is to get the lockdownd from a working hacktivated iphone 3G/3GS respectively. The lockdownd file is located in /usr/libexec. Copy the the file to the device you are having problem. You can copy file using utility such as ifunbox or something similar. The permission on the lockdownd file is 755. If you are copying the patched lockdownd over the existing one, the permissions should be in-tact.

If you do not have a working hactivated lockdownd file, you can patch the existing one by using bspatch. The patch file is located in the pwnagetool bundle for iphone 3G and 3GS. (** we will elaborate more on this later).

Note: Seems like device activated using a legit carrier SIM doesn't have this problem

You will have cydia installed on your iPhone 4 after the jailbreak. Now here is the tutorial on how to use it to unlock your iPhone 4.....


How to Unlock iPhone 4 with UltraSn0w:


T-Mobile USA users please disable 3G network first. Go to Settings ->General ->Network and turn the “Enable 3G” switch to OFF.


Open the Cydia.
Go to manage Tab at bottom.
Hit the big Sources button.


Hit the Edit button on Top-Right
Then Hit the Add button on Top-Left
Then Enter the following URL: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com and hit the Add Source button.


Once the Source is added to the Cydia, hit the big return to Cydia button at bottom of the screen and then Done button.
Go to Search tab and search for ultrasn0w and install it.


Installing UltraSn0w will unlock iPhone 4 iOS 4.0.1, 4.0 with baseband 01.59.00. Once the installation is completed, reboot your iPhone 4.

You should now have an unlocked iPhone 4 baseband 01.59.00 with UltraSn0w 1.0-1 and can use a SIM card from any carrier now.

If you are stuck at the purple screen, do these steps!!!

0) Click home to bring iPhone/iPod to Home page.
1) Go to Setting -> Airplane mode -> On (Not Important.. Just in case phone call when proceeding).
2) Double tap home button. (Bring up multitask mode)
3) Press and hold on Safari till vibrates.. Click on "-" to quit safari (in multitask mode)
3.1) Press Home button to close multitask mode.
4) Go to Setting -> Safari -> Cookies -> Always.
5) Clear all Cache n cookies.
6) Open Safari and go to jailbreakme.modmyi.com
7) If cannot, Repeat! (Sometimes Server still busy)
